Harriet Campe

Harriet Campe“I had the wonderful good fortune to grow up on a farm in southern Minnesota where I spent many happy childhood hours making mud pies. Later, I earned my B.A. in chemistry and biology from Bemidji State University, worked in research labs for many years, went to law school for awhile, got married and had two children. Eventually, I returned to mud - porcelain this time.

My pots are either hand built from slabs or thrown on the wheel. I decorate them with colored slips; impress them with stamps or needlework; or carve directly on the pots. I love working with porcelain. It is truly beautiful and elegant. Despite its delicate appearance, porcelain is very durable and does not chip easily. My goal is to make high-quality pots that convey the special qualities of porcelain pots that others will be happy to own and use."

Harriet teaches pottery for all skill levels at Edina Art Center.
