Gail Katz-James

 

Gail Katz-JamesGail is an artist who works primarily with found objects and hardware to construct wall reliefs that resemble familiar household textiles like quilts, lace or pile fabrics. She enjoys teaching to share her knowledge and joy of different media like drawing, painting, collage, weaving, printing and dyeing.

Gail shows her work locally and nationally. She earned her MFA in Textile Arts at UC Davis in 1996. Her emphasis at that time was weaving and dyeing in conjunction with the computerized AVL loom. Gail maintains a studio in her home and dabbles in selling computer-generated textile designs to the textile industry. She has also produced several public artworks including a piece in conjunction with the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum exhibit: the Secret Garden.

Gail teaches Art for Preschoolers, ages 4-5 at EAC.
